John joins JBWere from GoodTeam, a boutique strategy advisory business he co-founded over 10 years ago. During his time with GoodTeam, John has worked with various boards, organisations and individuals on their journey towards sustainability and intent on creating positive social and environmental impact.
John will utilise his extensive experience working collaboratively with communities and stakeholders to educate, guide and support JBWere’s clients in delivering positive outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand.
A former lawyer and banker, John had the opportunity many years ago to support well integrated microfinance institutions alleviate poverty amongst working families in the SE Asia, Mongolia and Fiji. Since then his work has focussed on harnessing the collaborative power of business, investors and donors to alleviate poverty and exclusion, and build resilience within local communities.

The Head of Philanthropy is a new role for JBWere New Zealand, and forms part of the Philanthropic Services Team at JBWere established in 2001. It builds on the significant progress and achievements that the team has made in Australia and New Zealand in supporting board governance and providing strategic advice under the leadership of Shamal Dass and John McLeod. The team comprises five in Australia and one in New Zealand to offer its clients true trans-Tasman capability in philanthropy and impact investing. The New Zealand role reports to the CEO of JBWere NZ and to the Head of Philanthropic Services JBWere Australia.
John resigned from GoodTeam on 28 January and is now fulltime with JBWere New Zealand.
